Foster a Young Adult Dog

Once our dogs are between 14-18 months old and begin training with a professional BluePath trainer, they are fostered in the homes of volunteers. Three to four times a week, the foster drops the dog off in Hopewell Junction in the morning and returns for pickup in the late afternoon. Dogs remain with the Foster until placement as a BluePath service dog.

Puppy Raisers may continue to care for dogs as Fosters if they can satisfy the requirement of dropping the dog off for training when requested.

“Fostering for BluePath has been an amazing experience for our entire family.  We are a link in the chain of many BluePath volunteers who give a family of a child with autism the freedom to be out in the community safely."  - Allison Armstrong

Application to foster a BluePath dog

I understand that a requirement of this volunteer opportunity is to drop off the dog in Hopewell Junction in the morning and return to pick the dog up in the late afternoon. *
If you can not commit to the weekday drop offs, you might be interested in dog sitting instead. As a sitter, you have the ability to bring a BluePath dog in to your home but for time periods that are more flexible with your schedule.
